About Suma AIDS Outreach Center

Who We Are
SUMA AIDS Outreach Center Inc. (SUMA AOC) is a private non-governmental organization founded in 2024 under the Ministry of Community Development Gender and Women, through the Non-Governmental SUMA AOCs Act 2002 of the United Republic of Tanzania. Our organization was established in response to the ongoing global HIV/AIDS crisis, which, according to the World Health Organization, had resulted in approximately 40.4 million deaths and 39 million infections worldwide by 2023.

Our Mission
At SUMA AOC, we are dedicated to building healthier communities through comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and prevention services. Our mission is to end the HIV epidemic, with a particular focus on historically underserved populations, such as youth, school-age children, and pregnant women in Tanzania.

Our Vision
We envision a world free of HIV/AIDS where every individual has the opportunity to live a healthy and dignified life.

Our Goals
To achieve our vision and mission, we focus on the following thematic goals:

  • Community Engagement and Capacity Building:
    Empowering communities to actively participate in HIV/AIDS prevention and care efforts.
  • Global Collaboration:
    Partnering with local and global organizations, government institutions, and other stakeholders to share knowledge, resources, and best practices.
  • Support Services:
    Providing counseling, support groups, and patient navigation to help individuals cope with the emotional and psychological impact of HIV/AIDS and to ensure they receive the services they need.
  • Treatment and Care:
    Ensuring access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) and comprehensive healthcare services for all individuals diagnosed with HIV.
  • Prevention:
    Raising public awareness about HIV transmission prevention methods and the importance of testing through targeted educational campaigns and community outreach.

  • Empowering clients through Income Generating Activities (IGA)
  • Prevention services including HIV and STI testing, STI treatment, and PrEP services

Target Audience
Our services are primarily aimed at people living with HIV, youth, pregnant women, and children.
