HIV/AIDS: A History of Loss and a Future of Hope

HIV/AIDS has been one of the most devastating pandemics in modern history, claiming over 40 million lives since its first outbreak in 1981. At its peak, the disease caused widespread fear, suffering and stigmatisation, as treatments were limited and the virus spread rapidly. While significant advancements in treatment and prevention have been made, HIV/AIDS remains a global threat, with approximately 38 million people currently living with the virus. It is crucial to continue raising awareness, promoting precautionary measures, and supporting those affected to prevent further spread and ultimately aim for a world free of HIV/AIDS.
